St Michael's Church in Camden Road is going to lead a double life, with prayers by day and pulsating music by night. The plan to host live gigs within the church itself is the brainchild of Father Tom Plant, who has made no efforts to hide his love of heavy metal.
The church leader has been busy installing a new stage, sound system and lighting rig, and there's even promise of an alcohol license so that the church can open four nights a week with a fully functioning bar and bouncers at the entrances.
Father Tom Plant has been keen to point out that, sadly, there'll be no 'mosh pit' in the pews, with the focus instead being on acoustic, folk and classical acts leading the bill.
At London Residential, we think it's a refreshing initiative - typical of Camden Town - where the emphasis tends to be on bringing different parts of the NW1 community together.
